Cruisen Paradise 2006 - Kona Custom Cars

Cruisen Paradise 2006 is coming to Kona this weekend.

When most people think about Hawaii they think about palm trees, beaches and other tropical attributes. Not 900 horsepower custom street rods like the one pictured here.

This car is totally custom to the tune of over $140,000 dollars. Mike from Thunder Alley Street Rods brought me the car for an alignment. That's my day job, Trent's Alignment and Brake Shop.

I've been slammed with custom car work all week. Why? Because of Cruisen Paradise 2006. Everybodys getting their ride dialed in for the big cruise. This is the biggest custom car show/cruise that has ever taken place on the big island of Hawaii. It started last weekend over in Hilo. This coming weekend the cruise shifts gears and comes to the Kona side of the island.

I've heard through the wireless coconut that there are over 100 cars being shipped in from the mainland, some from as far away as Kentucky! The neighbor islands will also be well represented from what I've been told.

Cruisen Paradise 2006 actually started last weekend over on the other side of the island in Hilo and will come to Kona this weekend starting Friday with a get together at the old airport state park here in Kona.

Then Saturday will be the first ever custom car block party down on Alii Dr. This is going to be very cool! You would be amazed at the amount of kama'aina custom cars here on the big island. There are 100's, then add at least 100 from the mainland and some more from the neighbor islands and this should be quite the event!

On July 4th, cars and stars from the movie "American Graffiti" are supposed to be at the Waikoloa resort, where exactly I'm not sure, but it won't be hard to find, just follow the cars. Below are the dates and times.

There where will be a wrap up luau held over in Hilo on Wednesday the 5th. Cruisen Paradise 2006 should be quite the event.
